After making numerous appearances in the comics and new (including a 13-episode rouse play-act TV series), it appears that the natural world of Prey are finally gearing taking place to make their cinematic debut. A natural world of Prey movie has been in encroachment previously late 2016, in the manner of Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson penning the script. subsequently last week, it was reported that Cathy Yan had been chosen to take in hand the project, and it would look Margot Robbie reprising Harley Quinn. Production is then acknowledged to commence towards the end of 2018, meaning that this could come out sometime in 2020.
Until now, Suicide Squad 2 had been rumored to be the adjacent DC extended Universe movie in the manner of astonishment girl 2, but in the manner of this latest update, it looks in the manner of that award now belongs to natural world of Prey. though we have a long quirk to go until learning what this natural world of Prey movie will be virtually and who will comprise the cast, making this a priority is a fine idea upon DC and Warner Bros' allowance for several reasons. Starting off, let's look at the lineup that the movie will likely feature.
It Brings More Superheroines Into The DCEU QuicklySo far the on your own prominent superheroine that's organization regarding in the DCEU is astonishment Woman, but assuming that the core lineup of the cinematic natural world of Prey is all in the manner of it is in the comics, that means we'll be introduced to Batgirl, Huntress and Black Canary at minimum. Batgirl has already acknowledged some cinematic attention (more upon that later) nearby her new numerous media appearances, and though Huntress and Black Canary have then appeared in projects in the manner of Justice League answer and Arrow, I suspect that this movie would be the first mature folks who don't follow the comic cd lore are seeing them. And those three may just be the tip of the proverbial iceberg, as new natural world of Prey in the comics have included Katana (who we've already met in Suicide Squad), woman Blackhawk, Hawkgirl, Vixen, the list goes on. In any case, looking at how skillfully astonishment girl performed, DC and Warner Bros are wise to start bringing in more superheroines sooner rather than later, both to come up with the money for more variety in DC's audacious lineup and to play-act towards that thesame nice of success.
It Gives Harley Quinn A interchange Opportunity To ShineHarley Quinn was introduced to the DCEU in 2016's Suicide Squad, and though the movie acknowledged a lot of criticism, Margot Robbie's portrayal of The Joker's girlfriend/Task Force X zealot was in the midst of the praiseworthy elements. previously then, a number of Harley Quinn-centric projects have been announced, and it looks in the manner of natural world of Prey will be the first of this bunch to put on forward. answer that nowadays in the comics Harley is serving more as an antihero than a villain, it's confusing if she would be natural world of Prey's main enemy or if she would fight nearby the protagonists, potentially even joining the team. Either way, this is a fine opportunity to look what Robbie can pull off in the manner of Harley both away from her Suicide Squad teammates and hopefully far away from The Joker. As a bonus, natural world of Prey can then set taking place all Harley's adjacent DCEU tune is, whether that's Suicide Squad 2, Gotham City Sirens or even her "rom-com" in the manner of Joker.
It Doesn't craving To nearby Tie Into The settle Of The DCEUBefore going further, allow me clarify that of course natural world of Prey will have some ties to the settle of the DCEU. Batgirl and Harley Quinn's presence alone guarantees that, and don't be surprised if the movie drops in a suggestion or two to Superman, the fight in Metropolis, etc. That living thing said, much in the manner of astonishment Woman, natural world of Prey can be made in a quirk appropriately that those who haven't kept taking place in the manner of the DCEU can yet enjoy it as a standalone story. Yes, Harley Quinn has history from Suicide Squad, but in the manner of the right exposition and potentially even a flashback or two, this can be speedily covered. The thesame goes for Batgirl; just adjoin briefly upon her partnership in the manner of Batman (assuming that natural world of Prey doesn't mark the dawn of Barbara Gordon's audacious journey), and we can put on on. Just because something exists in a shared universe doesn't mean it needs to have near links in the manner of all the new movies. thesame to Shazam! coming up, natural world of Prey can carve out its own little corner of the DCEU and yet saunter a fine origin in the manner of ties to this wider superhero world.
It May Set The Stage For The Batgirl MovieShortly after the billboard that Cathy Yan (more upon her soon) was tapped to take in hand natural world of Prey, it was reported that the reasons DC and Warner Bros are supposedly prioritizing natural world of Prey exceeding Suicide Squad 2 is because of Christina Hodson's script and because they want to set Batgirl taking place previously her solo movie, thesame to how Black Panther was introduced in Captain America: Civil stroke and subsequently starred in his own adventure. Originally attached to write and take in hand Batgirl, Joss Whedon departed the project last month due to living thing unable to come taking place in the manner of a fine story. Hodson has previously taken exceeding scripting duties from Whedon, but a new director hasn't been found yet. Regardless, in the manner of how skillfully this right to use worked for Black Panther, it might be cold to look Batgirl stroke nearby new crimefighters previously jumping into her own story. rouse action-wise, Batgirl's on your own movie tune appropriately far was in 1997's Batman & Robin, and needless to say that didn't go well. Here's hoping natural world of Prey can not on your own pull off a greater than before job of introducing her (which, admittedly, shouldn't be too tough), but then ensure that audiences are invested in her sufficient to want to check out the Batgirl movie far along on.
It Spotlights new Directing TalentJames Wan and David F. Sandberg, two of the biggest horror directors in recent years, are helming Aquaman and Shazam!, respectively, and Patty Jenkins, whose fame skyrocketed thanks to astonishment girl and was already known for her play-act upon Monster, is returning to oversee astonishment girl 2. Cathy Yan, however, is a newcomer to the world of filmmaking. Originally a reporter for the Wall Street Journal, she pivoted to making sudden films and made her feature-length debut earlier this year in the manner of Dead Pigs. Frequently in the manner of superhero movies, directors who are already well-established in the business are handed the reins, but all now and subsequently someone who doesn't have a huge resume is answer the opportunity to prove themself. look at what Jon Watts did in the manner of Spider-Man: Homecoming. Yan could follow a thesame passage in the manner of natural world of Prey, and in an industry where men are predominantly directors, it's fine to look Warner Bros giving her the opportunity to take in hand a movie centered upon some of DC's most well-known heroines (this then makes her the first Asian-American girl to take in hand a superhero movie).
